Perrières is a Premier Cru vineyard in southern Meursault, and often regarded as the best plot in the commune. The word ‘perrière’, which translates to ‘stones’ in French, characterises the soil in this vineyard. The rocky soil comprises a high concentration of limestone, which alludes to the minerality in the wines. The well-draining soil deliver grapes that are riper and more concentrated. The south facing, mid-slope location of the vineyard provide milder mesoclimatic conditions, allowing grapes achieving optimal ripeness, contributing to the distinctive rich honey and floral notes in the wines.

About the Producer

Château de Charodon is eponymous of the young negociant business founded by Louis Vallet, based in Montagny-les-Beaune, just outside Beaune, Burgundy.

Louis’ resume as a winemaker is remarkable. Besides being in the third generation of Pierre Bourée Fils domaine, where he worked for years, Louis amassed invaluable experience from stints in the Biobio region of Chile, as well as distinguished producers like Pascal Marchand and Bernard Zito.

Louis demonstrates a clear philosophy in staying true to the signature of the vintage, while honing the best potential of the wines. Like his mentors, he prioritises ease of drinking and pleasure, while infusing plushness in the texture.
