Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts sits high on the slope above Richebourg and close to Cros Parantoux, making it one of Vosne-Romanée’s most distinctive Premier Cru sites. Its elevated position and limestone-rich soils tend to produce wines of perfume, tension and finesse, with floral aromatics, red and dark fruits, fine spice and a pronounced mineral line. Compared with the broader power of some lower-slope Vosne vineyards, Les Petits Monts is often admired for its precision, lift and almost weightless elegance.
Grape Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Soil: clay and limestone
Appellation: Vines planted between 1934 and 1935.
Rows are planted with an north-south orientation, across the steep slope. The soil offers very good drainage; the roots are forced to permeate deeply into the rocks for water and nutrients.
About the Producer
J&J Archambaud was founded in 2004 by Marie-Odile Archambaud Gerbet and her husband, Jean-Pierre Archambaud. It is today owned by their sons, and grandsons of François Gerbet and Suzette Sirugue. Suzette was the sister of Vosne-Romanée winemaker Robert Sirugue, placing the family within the broader Sirugue-Jayer lineage of Vosne-Romanée.
One of the brothers now managing the estate, Jean-Philippe Archambaud, also serves as director and winemaker at Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi. The domaine’s holdings include several prized parcels in Vosne-Romanée, inherited through the family.
