About The Producer

Jérôme Galeyrand hails from Craon, the Loire Valley. He worked as a cheese wholesaler, before changing his path to winemaking after participating in harvesting for a couple of years at Domaine Alain Burguet in Gevrey-Chambertin. Upon graduation at the wine institute in Beaune, he bought his first vineyard plot Les Retraits in 2002 and proceeded with his own vinification in the winery in his home. Today, Jérôme has more than 5 hectares of vines across the Côte de Nuits - in Gevrey-Chambertin, Marsannay, Fixin and the Côte de Nuits villages. With an unwavering commitment to achieve terroir transparency precision and purity in the wines, organic and biodynamic viticulture is largely practised. All pesticides strictly eschewed, the soil ploughed to ‘keep the land alive’, and sulphite use is minimal. Jérôme takes a deep interest in studying the genetic material in the vines. He draws genome from old vines and uses them in new massage plantings, maintaining quality variability that contribute to wines' remarkable energy, depth and structure.
