Grape Variety: Chardonnay
Terrior: 'Les Chazots' and 'En Beauregard' (plot above Les Perriers) from the village Corgoloin, Côte de Nuits. Both parcels have stony soils, with silts covered with brown topsoils.
Winemaking:
Grapes pressed immediately after harvest.
The must rests in tank for 48 hours to allow solids to settle, then is racked into a clean vessel.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place for 8 days.
Aged in about 8 months in a Clayver stoneware tank, chosen for its neutrality and slight porosity to preserve freshness and aromatic generosity.
Valéria's notes about the 2024 vintage:
Under the gentle impulse of February, the vine comes back to life, and from March 22,its small green tips begin to appear. Temperatures are around normal, but frequent
rainfall will make this vintage challenging. Indeed, the months of March, May, and June will unfold largely under cloudy, humid skies, in an atmosphere oscillating between mildness and coolness. Perfect conditions for downy mildew! Its development, unusually early this year, will cause damage to leaves, inflorescences, and grape
clusters.
In the vineyard, working in such wet conditions is difficult and mentally exhausting.
Flowering, which begins in early June, will also suffer the consequences: coulure and millerandage further reduce yields. The summer months will be equally gloomy,
reinforcing the spread of fungal diseases. Powdery mildew and botrytis cinerea will take over, eating further into the harvest.
The vine will nonetheless continue its growth, and the grapes will begin to change color
from the end of July. Their veraison will end in early September, helped by more
favorable weather during the last days of August. A short respite, as autumnal weather
will soon return to the vineyard. From a sanitary perspective, the parcels begin to “drop
off.” Harvest time is approaching... Chardonnay stands out this year, both for its
healthy condition and for its ripeness. This Côte de Nuits-Villages, made from 100%
Chardonnay, was harvested on September 20, 2024.
Valéria Naudin
Valéria Naudin's namesake winery is based in Ladoix, Burgundy. Valéria’s foray into the wine industry began in a mid-career switch in which she worked as a cellar-master at a wine shop in Paris. Her entrepreneurial spirit brought her further into wine education, where she founded a tasting club, conducted masterclasses and organised seminars. Meanwhile, she ventured into wine production, attaining a diploma in agricultural facility management as well as accumulating experience at Domaine Jean-Louis Bergen in Saint-Bris-Le-Vineux and Domaine Michel Mallard et Fils in Ladoix. Valéria premiered wines in her name in the 2020 vintage, with the help of veteran producer Bernard Zito.
As a winemaker, Valéria commits to low-intervention processes to elicit purity and terroir-driven personality in the wines. Through her flagship cuvées, she spotlights and redefines less-known microclimates with perspectives from her unique craftsmanship. To date, Valéria continues her work as an wine educator and advocate, teaching tasting at the Professional Formation and Agricultural Promotion Centre in Beaune.
