Terroir:
‘Regnard’ is a lieu-dit in Gevrey-Chambertin, off Morey-Saint-Denis, next to D974. It is situated on a plateau surrounded by groves and dirt roads, and the marly soil is covered with scree. The plot faces the southeast, and offers an ideal orientation for the grapes to reach good maturity. The name ‘Regnard’ suggests the occupation of foxes on this land.
Vinification:
The grapes are hand-harvested sorted twice, once in the vineyard, another in the winery.
100% whole-bunch
Grapes prepared for fermentation in vats, spontaneous fermentation in yeast on the 4th day
Pump-over (3 times for 2023 vintage) in buckets and on foot, followed by light pressing on pneumatic press
Ageing: >13 month in old 228-litre oak barrels (Saint-Martin cooperage from the Vosges forests): one 2-year old, another 3-year old; 4.5 months in vat
Light lenticular filtration before bottling
No Sulfur used
Serving Suggestion:
Although it can be opened and enjoyed young, it is best to wait at least 5 years. It will deliver greater complexity and harmony on the nose and palate. Serving temperature :
16°c.
About The Producer
Valéria Naudin's namesake micro-negociant winery is based in Ladoix, Burgundy. Valéria’s foray into the wine industry began in a mid-career switch in which she worked as a cellar-master at a wine shop in Paris. Her entrepreneurial spirit brought her further into wine education, where she founded a tasting club, conducted masterclasses and organised seminars. Meanwhile, she ventured into wine production, attaining a diploma in agricultural facility management as well as accumulating experience at Domaine Jean-Louis Bergen in Saint-Bris-Le-Vineux and Domaine Michel Mallard et Fils in Ladoix. Valéria premiered wines in her name in the 2020 vintage, with the help of veteran producer Bernard Zito.
As a winemaker, Valéria commits to low-intervention processes to elicit purity and terroir-driven personality in the wines. Through her flagship cuvées, she spotlights and redefines less-known microclimates with perspectives from her unique craftsmanship. To date, Valéria continues her work as an wine educator and advocate, teaching tasting at the Professional Formation and Agricultural Promotion Centre in Beaune.
